The minister for Kampala Betty Olive Namisango Kamya says she is glad park yard market was finally demolished.
On Monday the market was taken over by its developer Ham to allow for the redevelopment of parking space for Nakivubo Stadium.
Kamya while delivering a Ministerial statement on park yard market said, that this land belongs to Nakivubo Memorial stadium and for the last 20 years they had failed to relocate them.
Kamya says that leaders in Kampala should support such development in the city and stay away from politicking everything.
Kamya also says that the vendors were relocated before the 30 day ultimatum given to them because some of them were trying to get a court order on Monday which prompted them to relocate them before they could obtain it.
The state minister of sports Charles Bakabulindi says that the existence of traders had barred them from developing a parking area for the stadium which he says had led to the stadium not hosting International matches.
The speaker of parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has ordered the minister for KCCA to produce a list of traders relocated from the market and where they have gone by next week.
