The approval of 12 new municipalities has
hit a snag for the second day after
legislators insisted that the 25
districts tabled in Parliament in 2012
should also be considered.
The MPs who claim to be under
pressure from their voters to push for
the creation of the districts,
wondered why the executive could
get money to create counties and
municipalities but fail to get the
same for districts.
Local Government minister, Adolf
Mwesige, moved to seek leave of
Parliament to withdraw the motion for
district but this was also opposed by
the MPs.
Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah
referred the debate on approval of
the municipalities to next week after
the executive has harmonized
positions.
