The Director Of Public Prosecution (DPP) orders that a Kampala City car dealer Muhammad Ssebufu of the pine car bond be tried before the High Court for the murder of a businesswoman Dona Betty Katushabe over a 9 million shillings debt.
Ssebufu is jointly charged with other 4 people including a one Godfrey Kayiza, a Congolese national Phillip Mirambi, a one Stephen Lwanga and a crime preventer Paul Tasingika.
According to committal papers sending Ssebufu and co-accused to High Court , DPP will adduce evidence to show that on the 21st /October/2015, Ssebufu used a Panga and guavor sticks to assault the deceased on her back and thighs while lamenting that she would die if she does not pay the money which was a balance on a car purchase.
Evidence also shows that Ssebufu was joined with co-accused to beat up Katushabe and by the time police intervened, she could neither stand nor speak and she was pronounced dead on arrival at Mulago referral hospital due to external injuries on the arms, thighs and face.
Later on police went back to the scene of crime and recovered several guavor sticks, Panga and handcuffs that DPP says will be exhibited in court as the killer weapons.
However while presenting committal papers before Buganda Road Court chief magistrate Flavia Nabakooza, Resident State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya said investigations are not fully concluded in-regards to certain police officers who are said to have been involved in the said murder.
Muwaganya added that these will be also arrested and charged at a time DPP will be ready with sufficient evidence.
