DP party President Nobert Mao warns Lukwago and his group.

DP party
boss Mao
says his
rival
Lukwago is
a comedian.
The cracks in Uganda’s oldest
political party are evident, with just a
few months to the general elections.
Today, the President-General of the
Democratic Party Norbert Mao
accused a splinter faction, led by
Erias Lukwago of failing talks to unify
the party, saying he was acting like a
clown.
Mao said that if the Lukwago-led
faction is allowed into the Democratic
Alliance that was formed by all
opposition parties to field a single
candidate against President
Museveni, then DP will leave the
Alliance.
Meanwhile, Mao’s side did not show
up for a mediated meeting called at
Pope Paul Memorial Hotel in Kampala
today. The meeting had been called
to seek a way to reconcile the
members ahead of the Delegates’
Conference scheduled for Thursday.
