The European Union wants stringent
measures to be taken against those
who steal public funds.
The European Commissioner for
International Cooperation and
Development, Neven Mimica who is
visiting the country says this is one
of the ways they will ensure that
funding given to the country is
channeled to the sectors it is
intended to benefit.
His comments come at the time the
country continues to grapple with the
graft. The World Bank estimates that
about 500bn shillings meant for
service delivery is stolen annually.
