It’s not easy to start a new Political Organisation – Mugisha Muntu

Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu, the former president of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has told supporters in Hoima district that, it is not easy to start a new political organization under the current circumstances.

Speaking to supporters in Hoima town on the first day of his nationwide consultative meetings, Muntu however did not rule out leaving the FDC.

He said it’s not easy to start a new party under the current political environment and that he promised the new party president that they shall be transparent and even if they take a decision to leave the party it will be done in a mature manner and that they will still work side by side to achieve the objectives.

Muntu’s meetings came a day after party secretary general, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, had warned in a letter dated January 10, 2010 that no member should carry out mobilization activities that are not sanctioned by the party’s national executive committee.

Many saw this warning as a veiled reference to Muntu’s consultative meetings. The former army commander is scheduled to traverse other parts of the country seeking views on how FDC should move forward in the wake of the divisions.

Muntu was defeated by Patrick Oboi Amuriat in the FDC presidential elections in November last year. Muntu and some of his supporters cried foul and announced that they would consult on the way forward.
