Kyambogo University lecturer charged with attempted murder

A lecturer at Kyambogo University has today been charged before Nakawa Magistrates court with attempted murder of his lover by pouring Acid on her face.

36 year old James Kazungu Alupo who lectures at the faculty of Civil Engineering also faces charges of domestic violence to which he has pleaded not guilty before chief magistrate Jamson Karemani.

However court has heard the evidence of Kazungu's victim; 40year old Judith Agole who was an accountant with Africa Innovations Institute.

Agole who painfully moves with the support of 2 other people has testified that after the loss of her husband in 2011, Kazungu approached her claiming to have been a best friend to her late husband and even offered to help her with the feeding and education of their 3 children.

She narrated that in 2014, they started living with Kazungu at Kirinya Bweyogerere but he failed on his responsibilities on top of running extra-marital affairs. That on the fateful day of 28thOctober 2017, she opted to end the affair and moved out of the house but Kazungu claimed to still love her and asked her for a second chance.

Agole told court that on that day at about mid-night, she came back home and as she was entering the house, she suddenly saw Kazungu standing behind her. On turning to talk to him, Kazungu threw acid on her face that has since turned her blind and also disfigured her entire face and breast.

Agole said even though Kazungu pretended to help with her admission at Kirudu hospital, she managed to lodge a complaint at Kirinya police post which arrested him, but he was released on bail by Nakawa court.
