The state Minister for Labour and Employment Herbert Kabafunzaki has been remanded to Luzira prison until tomorrow afternoon when the Anti-corruption court will rule on his bail application.
This after Kabafunzaki is charged with 3 counts of corruption relating to a 5 million shillings Bribe that he was allegedly arrested red-headed taking from Muhammed Muhammed Hamid, an investor and proprietor of Aya group of companies.
Kabafunzaki however pleaded not guilty to the charges before Chief Magistrate Agnes Alumu to whom he has requested to temporariry release him on bail on grounds that he is the soul bread winner of his young family and that he won’t interfere with the on-going investigations.
The minister has been charged along side with 2 other people including an interior designer Bruce Lubowa and his political assistant Brian Mugabo who pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact.
Mugabo has accepted before court that he hid the contentious 5 million shillings behind the curtain from police detectives who and come to arrest the minister from Serena Hotel with an aim of enabling the minister escape justice.
Prosecution represented by Barbra Kauma however requested for more time to ask for an appropriate sentence against Mugabo.
