In his ongoing working tour of Eastern and North Eastern Uganda, His Eminence the Mufti of Uganda Shk. Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje has addressed Muslim leaders in the Districts of Mbale, Sironko, Kumi, Soroti and Lango.
His latest meeting was held today with the Muslim leaders of Lango Muslim District at the Lango Muslim District Council headquarters in Lira town. The Mufti pledged 1 million shillings towards the construction of Angecha Primary School in Lira municipality.
In Kumi, the Mufti toured Muslim projects before having a meeting with the Kumi Muslim District Council leaders at Kumi Township Primary School. During this meeting, Shk. Abdulwahab Kawuta was appointed the Ag. District Kadhi of Kumi Muslim District replacing Shk. Haruna Ochom who accepted to step aside in the process of streamlining unity and development programs in the District.
The Mufti also broke the ground for the construction of a convert center in Kumi town.
He later met Muslim women leaders who commended him for championing the Muslim unity and development drive. They informed him about their plans to meet the President of Uganda Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and sought his guidance on the same.
In Soroti, the Mufti and his delegation visited the Islamic Health Unit, Camp Swahili Early Childhood Development education center and Muslim projects before addressing Muslim leaders at Villa Nova guest in Kikinjagi zone in Soroti town.
He was also given documents of Muslim properties in all the districts he has visited.
In all his meetings with both Muslim leaders and local government leaders in the regions visited, the Mufti called for cooperation between District Kadhis and District local government leaders.
He pledged to source for development partners especially in the area of uplifting Muslim education standards in the districts visited and Uganda as a whole.
He brought all conflicting Muslim leaders in each Muslim district on a round table and urged them to put the interests of Islam and UMSC before their personal interests.
He was dismayed by attempts by individuals who are attempting to grab Muslim properties and urged Muslims to be vigilant and to bring such cases to the attention of relevant UMSC officials.
The Lango sub region Police Commander Ematu John Peter urged Muslims in Lango to take the Mufti’s message seriously and work towards Muslim unity and development.
