Around 3,500 applications for national identity cards have been rejected mostly because applicants’ documentation was suspect.Most of the rejected applications are said to be from foreigners claiming to be nationals.
Meanwhile, the National Security Information Project has given all those who registered in Kampala, but have not collected their national identity cards 30 days to do so. Wakiso will follow shortly since the distribution of the cards has been ongoing for four months.
So far, only two million Ugandans have received their IDs out of the eight million that have been printed.
